Still Figuring it out

Welcome to Writing From Nowhere, my friend! I’m Kayla 🤗 just a gal trying to live her ideal lifestyle and bring others along with me. This revolves around the usual themes of fulfillment, purpose and community, with dashes of seeing the world and making money.

Does that image get your heart going? Then you know you’re in the right place. From leaving your 9-5, to figuring out the balancing act of remote work and starting your own online business (if that’s your dream), I’ve got the resources to help you save time and avoid the mistakes I made.

My "Before" Life Didn't Resemble This At All

That doesn’t mean that my life used to be bad. It was just unfulfilling. I had this nagging feeling that life was supposed to be more enjoyable & purposeful than it was.

It took a lot of encouragement & support from strangers online for me to be brave enough to leave that job & start freelancing & traveling full-time.

Now, I’m here to be that resource for you. You can consider me to be your digital friend next door who *gets* it. You won’t learn how to make 6-figures a month online here; no double finger guns or sales pitches.

Instead, you’ll get honest insight, tips and a look behind the curtain at what happens when you go rogue and try to have it all in life.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Pinterest manager journey began very organically: I was already using Pinterest to drive traffic to this blog, and I started answering other blogger’s Pinterest questions in Facebook groups. Someone asked if they could hire me, and this income stream was born!

It goes to show that you never know what online business you already have within your skills! I tell the whole story here if you want to hear the long version!

I started this blog because I wanted to build something for myself online. I had no idea what, but I was done waiting. I knew Instagram and YouTube weren’t “it” –  you don’t own that space, and accounts are deactivated every day. So I started this blog!

It completely changed my life. I found an answer to what I want to do with my life. I employ myself (AND my husband, Bert-Jan) and can work from anywhere in the world. I have an entire post on how blogging can change your life if you let it. I’m a big believer 🙂

NO way. The only thing that’s sad is not doing what you *want* to do. I wholeheartedly mean that.

Living in your parents’ basement because you want to is way more of a remote work “success” than traveling even though you’d rather be at home, just because you feel like you have to.

Every time I get this question, I struggle to answer it. I really feel your biggest asset in “making it” online is your tenacity. You need to fight for it. No one will make it happen for you. And it may very well take years to really support yourself comfortably. If you’re not ready to work on your online business dream for years, then you don’t want it badly enough.

It boils down to one of my favorite sayings: “whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.”
